A low-cost Internet of Things-based crowd control system for public transportation Crowding in public transportation is becoming an increasing threat as the world’s population grows. Despite the fact that the world’s population has grown, public transportation infrastructures have stayed mostly unchanged over the last many decades. The goal of this project is to demonstrate a low-cost IoT-based solution to the crowding problem through the use of smart seats that can detect and display seat occupancy status in real time through an internet or mobile application.
